Star City Greyhound Adoption, Inc.
Our mission is to
educate the public about these wonderful dogs and
find them loving, quality, forever homes. Our
interest in the adoption doesn’t stop when we place
a dog. We offer 24 hour greyhound support, and try
to work with the adopter and dog to solve any
problems that may arise. If at any time the dog is
no longer wanted or we feel the home is not
beneficial to either parties the dog always has a
home here with us.
Our adoption process includes :
filling out an application
checking references
A home visit
We want to make the adoption process as seamless as
possible. We'll visit your home to ensure that everything is
Greyhound friendly and to discuss any problems we may observe. We encourage potential adopters to check and read any
available greyhound information. We recommend books and websites
because you can’t have too much information.
You and your dog
pick each other. We may suggest a few
we feel would work well in your home, but we believe that to have
that incredible greyhound bond there needs to be a mutual
attraction. Sometimes what an adopter is looking for is not what
they fall in love with, and sometimes the dog just picks you and
there isn’t any more room for discussion.
We deliver the dog to their new family with their greyhound
collar, muzzle and lead. The adopter is furnished with a
copy of all medical records and a copy of the dog’s racing record if
possible. We love to keep in touch with “our” dogs and encourage
all adopters to come to "meet and greets" and show off their dogs
and help educate the public on the joys of being owned by a
greyhound.
Our adoption fee is $250.00. This fee covers:
Spaying or neutering
Updating vaccines
Heartworm check
Dental cleaning
Deworming
Bathing and flea treatment
Greyhound collar and lead
24 hour tech support
All
dogs are vetted as soon as possible upon arrival at the kennel.
They are not shown or available for adoption until this is done.
